Share market update: Bank shares in the green; ICICI Bank rises 3%

NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading in the positive zone in Thursday's morning session. Shares of ICICI Bank (up 2.83 per cent) , IndusInd Bank (up 2.40 per cent) , Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 1.68 per cent) and Bank of Baroda (up 1.66 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

Punjab National Bank (up 1.26 per cent) , Federal Bank (up 1.14 per cent) , RBL Bank (up 1.09 per cent) and IDFC First Bank (up 1.05 per cent) too were trading in the green.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 1.37 per cent up at 29,991.50 around 09:51 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 117.30 points at 11,557.50 while the BSE Sensex was up 366.72 points at 38,960.24.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 were trading in the green, while 5 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, SBI, ZEEL, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Indian Oil Corp, Dish TV India, SAIL and ICICI Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
