The candidates, who pass general exams, shall only be eligible for subjective exams Kathmandu, October 18 The government has revised examination system for filling vacant posts of teachers at community schools. According to the tenth amendment of the Teachers Service Commission Rules-2000, recently published in Nepal Gazette, the commission shall conduct written and practical examinations.

The written examinations have been segmented into two parts — general and subjective, with full marks 100, each.

Full marks for practical test are 25.

Interview carries full marks of 25. As per the rule 18, pass marks of general and subjective tests shall be 50 and 40, respectively, whereas pass marks for practical tests is 10.

&Only the candidates, who make through the general examinations, shall be eligible to appear for subjective examinations,& it reads. Results of successful candidates shall be published on the basis of total marks obtained after addition of at least 50 marks of general examinations and 40 marks of subjective tests.

From amongst the candidates getting through general and subjective examinations, names of persons securing higher marks shall be published for interviews in alphabetical order. The rules state that even if the number of candidates securing pass marks is less than the required positions, only the name of candidates having passed shall be published for interviews.

&In order to conduct interviews of candidates, the commission shall form a board of interviewers of at least three members, along with an expert in the concerned sector,& the rules state. The commission shall publish names based on the order of seniority of the candidates who passed all examinations after adding marks secured in interviews.

It shall also recommend the names for appointment.

If candidates recommended do not accept the letter of appointment within 30 days of the date of publication of notice, the Education Development and Coordination Unit may appoint alternative candidates from the waiting lists.
