KATHMANDU: The Kasthamandap Reconstruction Committee, at a public hearing event, said almost half of Kasthamandap reconstruction is over with the ground floor construction being complete. According to chairperson of the users& committee, Rajendra Shakya, Rs 30 million has been spent and 4,038 cube feet wood used so far in the reconstruction of the historical site.

Wooden raw materials for the reconstruction have been brought from Bardibas and Amlekhgunj. Kasthamandap is being reconstructed by using traditional techniques and conserving archaeologically-important materials, informed heritage expert Sudarshan Tiwari. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) had targeted to complete the reconstruction at the cost of Rs 198.8 million within three years.
