Share market update: Telecom shares rise; Vindhya Telelinks surges 8%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with gains in Monday's morning session. Shares of Vindhya Telelinks (up 8.10 per cent) , Vodafone Idea (up 6.28 per cent) , Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 4.96 per cent) and Optiemus Infracom (up 4.92 per cent) were trading in the positive zone. Bharti Infratel (up 4.91 per cent) , Sterlite Technologies (up 1.89 per cent) , Bharti Airtel (up 1.56 per cent) and Reliance Communications (up 1.47 per cent) too were trading in the green.

The S-P BSE Telecom index was trading 2.32 per cent up at 938.59 around 11:19 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 93.10 points at 11,983.70 while the BSE Sensex was up 305.02 points at 40,470.05.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 were trading in the green, while 12 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Bank of Baroda, Tata Motors, SAIL, PNB, Adani Power, JSPL and Indian Energy Exchange were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
