An on-duty police working at Halchowk under Metropolitan Authorities Circle, Swoyambh, was discovered dead inside his space in a temporary shed of the post today morning.
The deceased has been recognized as Assistant Sub-inspector Bishnu Karki, 43, in-charge of the Halchowk beat.
Karki & s fellow authorities workers found Karki in a pool of blood on the floor.
It was Karki & s very first day on duty at Halchowk beat.
He was deputed by Swoyambhu-based Metropolitan Police Circle.
Currently, 7 police workers are operating at the beat.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar Yadav, spokesperson of Metropolitan Authorities Office, Ranipokhari, stated preliminary investigation showed that he may have shot himself with his service revolver.
Karki had suffered injuries in his right temple.
& It & s most likely that he took his own life with the service revolver by locking the door from inside.
But, our examination is still going on and we will discover the reality soon, & SSP Yadav stated.
ASI Karki, who came from Dolakha, was on duty till midnight the other day and had oversleeped his own different room at the responsibility post.
The room has a single window fenced by wires.
SSP Yadav stated Karki & s fellow police officers, who were on duty nearby the beat, had heard
the gunshot at around 6:30 am today, however speculated that it might be the sound of tyre of a heavy automobile being punctured.
However later on, Karki & s colleagues presumed something uncommon and checked on him inside the space from the window, only to find him lying on the flooring.
& There was just one window and the door was locked from within.
This is an indication that ASI Karki might have taken his own life, & Deputy Superintendent of Authorities Rajkumar KC, representative of Metropolitan Cops Range, Kathmandu said.
His body has been sent out to Maharajgunj-based TU Mentor Hospital for post-mortem.
Police are examining the motive behind the thought suicide.
