HETAUDA, MARCH 14Bagmati Province opposition party CPN-UML's parliamentary party leader Astalaxmi Shakya has accused the provincial government of failing to meet public aspiration. Deuba trying to enlist main opposition party's support NC parliamentary party meeting commences Speaking at the Provincial Assembly meeting today, the UML vice-chair alleged that the government was working on its whims and in breach of the constitution. "The government's decision to whittle down the budget allocated for the tunnel road, which is also a national pride project, and the operation of the electric passenger vehicle without consulting the opposition was too much," she said, adding that such unilateral and wanton ways could have far-reaching consequences.Shakya further alleged that the provincial government under the leadership of CPN (Unified Socialist) was distributing small projects randomly of late in order to increase its support and cadre base among the public.

"It's too much, the government is doing whatever it feels like without considering its effect and is misusing state fund," she said.The former chief minister also took exception to the 'random' transfer of around 400 staffers at one go.

"It's not good culture to transfer employees on preferential basis," she said, also warning the government not to scrap political appointments made by the previous government or getting employees to resign under duress.Meanwhile, Bagmati Province Chief Minister Rajendra Pande appointed Arunraj Sumargi as his non-salaried expert advisor.
