Naumati Community Homestay has been brought into operation in Dhaulagiri, where mostly people from Gurung and Magar communities reside, after two years of continuous efforts.
The Magar community brought the homestay into operation in order to make people see Magar culture, tradition, and civilization.In the beginning, nine houses have been used for the homestay service.It is said that the Magar homestay will help protect Magar culture and traditions as well as conserve and showcase Magar art, tradition, culture, and food after the operation of homestay gets under way at the rural municipality.Chairperson of Khajura Rural Municipality Kismat Kumar Kashyapati said that the homestay would help bring economic prosperity to Khajura.Similarly, Chairperson of Naumati Community Homestay Chhabi Kala Thapa said that guests visiting the homestay would enjoy Magar culture and dance.A local Magar leader Chitra Bahadur Rana Magar mentioned that the homestay was brought into operation with the objective of promoting Magar culture and tradition.Likewise, General-secretary of Homestay Federation Krishna Chaudhary opined, "It is necessary to promote homestay as it is a good means of income generation."A version of this article appears in the print on April 17, 2022, of The Himalayan Times.
