United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had, earlier in November, appointed her as the UN Resident Coordinator in Mauritius and Seychelles, with the host Governments approval.Singh had presumed office on 11 November.According to the UN Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG), Singh brings more than over 25 years of experience in worldwide development in Asia and Africa continents, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Cameroon, Chad, Laos, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Uganda and Vietnam.Prior to her consultation as United Nations Resident Coordinator, Lisa Singh worked as UNDP Resident Representative advertisement interim (ai) in Chad.
She formerly worked as UNDP Director of Programme and Deputy Resident Representative ai in Mali.
She has substantial senior policy knowledge encouraging federal governments on issues of economic change, local integration, sustainable development and disaster and environment risk resilience.As Senior Economist, she led joint UN collective actions to support federal governments in the completion of national advancement strategies (Afghanistan and Cameroon) and more just recently with nationwide socioeconomic reaction planning for COVID-19 (Chad).
Lisa Singh is adept in intergovernmental procedures to consist of management roles in facilitating regional partnership, understanding brokering, south-south collaboration and funding solutions.
As Regional Environment Governance Manager in the Mekong Region based in Cambodia, she played a lead function reinforcing riparian diplomacy and cross border capacity structure to consist of deal with the private sector and non-government organizations in the Asia Pacific Region.Ms.
Singh acquired her masters degree in Economics from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada.
She holds a bachelors degree in Liberal Arts (Economics and French) from Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts, USA.
She is multilingual with fluency in English, French and Nepali
