The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) states it will not to authorize any scheduled power cuts until 17 February in order to protect the rights of over 331,000 trainees sitting for the 2022 G.C.E.
Advanced Level assessment.
Accordingly, PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake specified that any such power cuts enforced throughout this period will be considered unauthorized and prohibited.
Earlier today (01 Feb.), the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) requested the PUCSL consent to enforce power cuts for 2 hours and 20 minutes today and tomorrow (02 Feb.).
The demand was made upon factor to consider of the truth that the Water Management Secretariat has limited the release of water from tanks for hydro power generation since the anticipated rainfall was not experienced.
