Authors: JordanNEW DELHI: As many as 15 stocks, including Cyient, HIL, Hi-Tech Pipes, Intellect Design Arena, Jubilant Foodworks, Khadim India, Pfizer and Merck, made fresh 52-week highs their new home on the NSE on Monday.
However, more than 70 scrips, including HPCL, IDFC Bank, Strides Shasun, and Vakrangee, moved down to touch fresh 52-week lows.
Broader market sentiment turned positive.
Equity markets were in a good shape, buoyed by fresh buying by domestic institutional investors amid a strengthening rupee.
Asian markets were also trading in the green as weaker-than-expected US wage growth helped calm investor nerves about rising interest rates and inflation.
Metal, bank, FMCG and auto stocks were leading the pack of gainers.
However, pharma and a few IT stocks ran up losses, capping the gains.
The NSE Nifty index was up 36 points at 10,654 while the BSE Sensex trended higher by 102 points at 35,018.
Of the 50 stocks on the Nifty index, 29 sprinted and 21 trailed.
Hindalco, Vedanta and Axis Bank were the top gainers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
