Action taken against over 2,000 erring cops

Kathmandu, September 18 Nepal Police has taken action against more than 2,032 erring police personnel, including two senior superintendents
of police, four superintendents of police, seven deputy superintendents of police and 28 inspectors for their alleged involvement in illegal
and unprofessional activities in fiscal 2018-19. Earlier, Nepali Police had taken action against such cops in fiscal 2017-18. Nepal Police
has intensified action against erring police personnel in a bidto eradicate all irregularities and anomalies existing in the
organisation. According to police, of the total 2,032 police personnel facing action, 256 have been sacked. Among those sacked, seven will
not be eligible for any government postsin the future. One among them is SP Dilli Raj Bista, who was sacked from the post for his sheer
negligence in crime investigation and failure to bring to book culprit(s) involved in the rape and murder of Nirmala Panta of Mahendranagar,
Kanchanpur, on July 26 last year. Two inspectors, five sub-inspectors, 11 assistant sub-inspectors, 24 head constables and 115 constables
also lost their jobs on various charges. As many as 1,544 police personnel faced departmental actions such as reprimand, warnings, putting
grade on hold, split verdict, grade demotion, putting promotion on hold and demotion to the lowest time-scale. SSP Umesh Raj Joshi, Nepal
Police joint spokesperson, said the action was taken for internal reformation in the police organisation. &Nepal Police has adopted zero
