Member of the House of Representatives and former industry minister Mahesh Basnet has announced that he will
contribute 10 per cent from government facilities he receives as a lawmaker and a former minister to social causes.
Lawmaker Basnet, who is
also the central member of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) social service department, said he made the announcement to support
government efforts for development and to bring prosperity in the society.
Basnet said he was committed to changing the fate of his home
district Bhaktapur by transforming it into a model district in the next three years
With the announcement, he gave away one lakh rupees for reconstruction of Khansi pond in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality.
He also pledged to
contribute five million rupees from the Parliament Development Fund to Shankhadhar Park Construction Project unveiled by Madhyapur Thimi
Municipality.
He vowed to provide three million rupees for prevention of soil erosion in the district.
He also announced a budget of Rs 15
million to develop Madhyapur Thimi-based Neelbarahi into an eco-park for the benefit of the local population.
Similarly, he pledged Rs 150
million to conserve heritage settlements at Bhaktapur, Madhyapur, Surya Binayak and Chagunarayan municipalities, according to Basnet.
He
said overhead bridges would be constructed at Ghalate of Suryabinayak and Gaththaghar of Madhyapur Thimi.
