Stock market update: Midcaps outperform Sensex; IDBI Bank, RCom lead the pack of midcap gainers

NEW DELHI: Midcaps were outperforming Sensex during the first half of Friday's trade. Around 11:10 am, the BSE Midcap index was trading 1.41
per cent up at 15,390, while the BSE Sensex was 0.58 per cent up at 35,242
The NSE Nifty50 was 0.67 per cent up at 10,660. Shares of IDBI Bank (up 8.82 per cent), Reliance Communications (up 6.74 per cent),
Vakrangee (up 4.95 per cent), Cholamandalam Investment Finance Company (up 4.26 per cent), ABB India (up 4.23 per cent) and Bharat
Electronics (up 3.89 per cent) were the top gainers in the midcap index. On the other hand, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (down 1.70 per
cent), GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 1.43 per cent), PNB Housing Finance (down 1.39 per cent) and Castrol India (down 1.27 per
cent) were the top losers in the midcap index. Equity benchmarks were trading up on fresh buying by investors as the July derivatives
contracts started on a strong note amid recovery in the rupee. In the Sensex index, 26 stocks were advancing, while 5 were declining. All
sectoral indices on BSE were trading with gains
BSE Energy, industrials, telecom, utilities, capital goods, consumer durables, metal, oil gas, power and realty climbed over 1 per
cent. Tata Steel, Bajaj Auto and Reliance Industries were leading the pack of Sensex gainers.
