The accused has been identified as Amar Raut, 23, of Premnagar at the municipality
Police said that Raut killed Bhuja Kumari Podar, 22, of Kathmandu metropolis
The accused has confessed his crime saying that he had killed his girlfriend by strangling on the bank of the Kamala River in Karjanha
Municipality on February 28, said police. Raut and Puja fell in love through Facebook while Amar was in Qatar
Raut had returned home on January 24 and had stayed for some days.Police investigation said that Raut and Puja got married in Kathmandu's
Bhadrakali temple on February 10 and had stayed in a rented house in Bafal, Kathmandu.Puja reached Siraha on February 28 after Raut did not
return to Kathmandu from Siraha as he had convinced her that he would take her to Siraha after convincing his parents about their
marriage.Police said that Raut did not go to receive Puja saying that he was not in the house
She called him, but he said he would come to receive her in the evening.Puja stayed at Basantapur throughout the day.Raut, along with his
friends, came and took Puja to Kamala River's bank and murdered he after strangling her on the same night.Locals informed police about the
incident the next day
Police said that they had started investigation after they reached the incident site .Meanwhile, family members had planned Raut's marriage
with another girl on March 11.Police said that the incident might have occurred fearing that she might foil Raut's marriage plan.The police
team has started investigation
Police said that they had been searching for other people involved in the case.Further investigation into the case is under way.A version of
