The
districts Sarlahi, Rautahat and Saptari of Madhes Province will benefit from the financial assistance of the Government of India
As many as 3,000 LPG gas stoves, gas cylinders and accessories are being provided through the Nepal-India Women Friendship Society in these
three districts with a grant assistance of Rs 20.49 million.
According to the embassy, this scheme is one of the 75
projects being inaugurated in Nepal this year as a part of "India@75 AzadiKaAmritMahotsav" which celebrates 75 years of India's
independence.The project is inspired by Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), a flagship scheme, with the objective of providing access to
clean cooking fuel such as LPG to rural and deprived households, which were otherwise using traditional cooking fuels such as firewood,
coal, cow-dung cakes, among others.Since 2003, India has taken up over 523 HICDPs in Nepal in various sectors such as health, education,
drinking water and irrigation, electrification, among others, and has completed 467 projects
Among these, 81 projects have been undertaken in Province 2, including 19 projects in Sarlahi; five projects in Rautahat and nine projects
In addition to these, 87 ambulances have been provided to various health posts
Likewise, three school buses have been gifted in these three districts by the Government of India.A version of this article appears in the
