has underlined the need to make democratic candidates and those standing for change victorious in the upcoming local elections
He also stressed the need to strengthen the foundation of democracy from the local levels.

In an appeal
today, Deuba emphasised the need to defeat anti-constitutional and anti-democratic forces in the election in the course of further
consolidating the base of democracy.
He insisted, "It is high time that the party took significant efforts to promote the
federal democratic republic system in the country, defend the constitution and safeguard democracy by conquering the efforts to weaken
democracy as well as the constitution."Through the appeal, the NC president said the party mechanism from the province to local levels had
been instructed to implement the decision of the coalition partners of the government to forge an electoral alliance for the local elections
slated for May 13.It may be noted that the five ruling parties - NC, CPN-Maoist Centre, CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi
Party-Nepal and Rastriya Janamorcha - had agreed to form an electoral alliance as per the local need in the election.President Deuba
requested all the members of the party to be active in a campaign to make the party's authorised candidates as well as alliance candidates
victorious.He also appealed to candidates of the NC, who have filed rebel candidacies, to withdraw within the slated time.The NC president
mentioned that voters across the nation were very excited about electing representatives at the local levels and handing over leadership of
the local level government for the next five years.He said the entire party hierarchy was doing its best to win the people's mandate through
