17 million ballot papers printed

KATHMANDU, APRIL 28The Election Commission has printed 17,775,000 ballot papers for
72 districts and it has already dispatched 5,180,000 ballot papers to 33 districts
Local polls are scheduled for May 13.
New service centres for women, children, and elderly on the cards

Assistant Spokesperson for the EC Surya Prasad Aryal said at a press briefing here today that the
polls panel had asked the government to announce public holiday on May 13 when local polls will take place. The polls panel
has also asked schools where polling centres had been set up to stop classes for three days - May 11-13 and to conduct study through
alternative means.Aryal said that as per the data available by 3:30pm today, 153,002 candidates have applied for various posts in the local
governments.A total of 3,510 people filed their nomination papers for the post of mayor and 3,387 for the post of chairpersons of local
levels.The number of people who filed their nomination papers for deputy mayor and deputy chief is 2,168 and 2,401respectively.A total of
