million rupees to Wongchu Memorial Hospital in Solukhumbu for constructing a maternity care home on the hospital premises.

The financial support aims to upgrade the capacity of the newly-constructed hospital in the remote district of eastern
Nepal, according to the foundation.
7SF Chairman AC Sherpa has offered Rs four million to the hospital to build a maternity
care home (birthing centre), Lakpa Sherpa, Chairman at Himalayan Yokpu Foundation said.Lakpa, who is also the project director at WMH, said
that 7SF had agreed to provide additional 28 lakh rupees to the hospital to build the birthing centre.According to her, the 7SF had already
provided 12 lakh rupees to the hospital for ambulance services."As we managed to get an ambulance from the rural municipality, 12 Lakh
rupees will also be used to construct the birthing centre," she added.Honorary Consul for Seattle in Washington State, AC Sherpa, who has
also served as deputy regional coordinator (Americas) for the NRN's International Coordination Council, said that 7SF's support would help
decrease maternal as well as neonatal mortality rates in the remote district after the establishment of the birthing centre."The maternity
building will be a noble project for 7SF," Sherpa, who has climbed mountains across all seven continents of the world, said.A resident of
Solukhumbu district, Sherpa had set up the foundation with the aim of supporting women and children in need.A version of this article
