KATHMANDU, MAY 7The upcoming monsoon season is most
likely to bring above-normal rain across the country, according to a forecast of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The department has released a long-range forecast by putting together its observation made on the basis of the study from World
Meteorological Organisation, the department's own technology and obser-vation of South Asian Climate Outlook Forum.
According to the recent prediction, there is 35-45 per cent probability that northern parts of Province 1, most parts of Madhes Province and
southern part of Bagmati Provincewill receive normal rainfall during 2022 monsoon season
Likewise, remaining parts show 35-65 per cent probability to witness above-normal rainfall
The maximum temperature in the northern parts of the country and in most of Madhes Province is predicted to be normal by 35-55 per cent,
while it is likely be lower than normal in rest of the country.Similarly, minimum temperature in the northern parts of the country is likely
be lower than normal, while it is predicted to be normal in the re-maining parts
Seasonal Climate Outlook over South Asia for the 2022 Southwest Monsoon Season (June-September) had stated that over most parts of the South
Asia, there will most likely be normal to above normal rainfall during the southwest monsoon of the season.This probability shows above
normal rainfall along the foothills of Himalayas, many areas of northwestern and central parts of the region, and some areas of east and
southern parts of the region
It hasfurther forecasted above-normal minimum temperatures over many areas along foothills of Himalayas, northern, northwestern and
northeastern parts of the South Asia and below normal to normal minimum tempera-tures are most likely over most areas of central, southern
and southeastern part of South Asia.The seasonal maximum temperatures are most likely to be normal to below normal over most parts of the
region except over extreme northwest and some areas of northern and northeastern parts of the region.The outlook was presented in the 22nd
session of South Asian Climate Outlook Forum and Climate Services User Forum, which was conducted online from April 26-28.A version of this
