Seventeen killed on way back from bratabandha party in Kavre accident

KAVRE, DECEMBER 13At least 17 persons were killed in a bus accident at Chalal
Ganeshsthan of Bethanchowk Rural Municipality, Kavre, today evening
The bus was returning from a bratabandha ceremony.

Kavre CDO Humkala Pandey said the ill-fated bus was reserved for bratabandha ceremony and was on its way back
to Banepa Municipality from Chyalti of Bethanchowk after the bratabandha ceremony. CDO Pandey said the exact number of
passengers travelling on the bus was not clear
The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, he added
Identities of the deceased are yet to be established.Personnel of Nepal Police and the Nepali Army carried out rescue work, said CDO
Pandey.Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Dhundi Raj Neupane, said 15 people died on the spot and two during
treatment at Banepabased Scheer Memorial Hospital.At least 12 people were injured in the accident
Of them, eight are receiving treatment at Scheer Memorial Hospital, whereas five others are being treated at Dhulikhel Hospital.Most of the
injured are in critical condition, Neupane said.Meanwhile, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has directed the bodies concerned to carry out
rescue of the injured immediately.Home Minister Khand asked the Home Administration, ChiefDistrict Officer of Kavre, Humkala Pandey and
District Police Chief, Chakra Raj Joshi, to make arrangement to take the injured to hospital.A version of this article appears in the print
