Around 11:30 am (IST), the BSE
Smallcap index was 0.50 per cent up at 18,082, while the BSE Sensex was 0.31 per cent up at 35,025
The NSE Nifty50 was 0.32 per cent up at 10,653 around the same time
Shares of PC Jeweller (up 31.28 per cent), Arcotech (up 15.04 per cent), Jaiprakash Power Ventures (up 13.69 per cent), Ruchi Soya
Industries (up 12.69 per cent) and Deccan Gold Mines (up 10.15 per cent) surged over 10 per cent in the smallcap index.
On the other hand,
Sunil Hitech Engineers (down 16.06 per cent), Bhageria Industries (down 11.85 per cent), Jayant Agro Organics (down 7.00 per cent), Indo
Count Industries (down 6.31 per cent) and Strides Shasun (down 6.31 per cent) were the top losers in the smallcap index.
Equity markets were
trading up on fresh buying by domestic institutional investors amid a strengthening rupee.
Metal, bank, FMCG and auto stocks were leading
However, pharma and a few IT stocks were suffering losses, capping the gains for market
Lupin, Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma and Aurobindo Pharma were among the top losers in the pharma index.
TCS, Tech Mahindra and HCL
Technologies were among the top IT losers.
