KATHMANDU: Police have arrested former lawmaker Dol Bahadur (DB) Karki from the capital city today.
A team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police took Karki into custody from Satungal, confirmed CIB Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dipak Regmi.
The Supreme Court (SC) had convicted Karki of corruption on July 2, 2019, after which he had been on the run.
He had been arrested red-handed in August 2010 by a team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) while taking bribe from an individual whom he had promised the position of a police inspector.
Karki and his accomplice Brahmananda Udasin had taken a bribe of Rs 405,000 from the person involved in instalments.
Karki, affiliated with the then CPN-UML, was handed imprisonment of six months after being declared guilty.
