KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, on Monday, reportedly arrested a youth who was on the run for more than 18 years after killing a youth in Mahadevsthan, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-34.
The arrested has been identified as Bhimsen Bhandari (38), a permanent resident of Balephi Municipality-3 in Sindhupalchok district.
A team of security personnel deployed from Maharajgunj-based CIB arrested Bhandari from a bus park in Bhaktapur Municipality-2.
According to police, Bhandari was on the run from law enforcers after killing 20-year-old Ashok Rai.
Rai was a manual worker at an under-construction building in Baneshwor, KMC-34.
According to police, Rai had slapped Bhandari in a heated argument between the two, at a local pub in Baneshwor.
In order to take vengeance on Rai over the slapping, Bhandari made his way to the construction site where the former was staying.
Then, he struck Rai with a sharp weapon and killed him, on July 22, 2001.
After committing the crime, Bhandari went on working in various vehicles in Bhaktapur area taking the cover of driver assistant.
Meanwhile, the CIB has handed over the arrestee to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Baneshwor to bring a prosecution against him.
