KATHMANDU: Hearing on the attempt-to-rape case against former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara has been postponed to Monday. The hearing took place under the closed bench of District Judge Sudarshan Pandey. According to information officer at Kathmandu District Court, Gyan Bahadur Karki, a total of 32 advocates had registered to plead on behalf of Mahara.

Of them, only senior advocate Laba Mainali presented his arguments. The Government Attorney Office, Kathmandu, on Thursday had filed a charge-sheet against former speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara at Kathmandu District Court charging him of attemp-to-rape. Mahara continues to remain under judicial custody since his arrest on the charge of attempting to rape Parliament Secretariat staffer. The completion of the pleading will lead to a decision whether to send Mahara to jail or to release him on bail.
