Kathmandu, November 8 A 25-member delegation from Japan Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, including agricultural experts and businesspersons, is arriving in Kathmandu on an official visit from November 10 to 16. The delegation will be led by Takami Nakada, deputy director-general for International Affairs, minister secretariat, MAFF. The delegation will hold meetings with high-level Nepal government officials and business persons and also visit agricultural sites and supportive facilities.

This delegation first visited Nepal in January 2019, according to a statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu. The delegation will also organise a ‘Public-Private Joint Forum on Private Investment, Inter-governmental Cooperation and Acceptance of Human Resources between Nepal and Japan& on November 13 at Alfa House Banquet, Baneshwor, in Kathmandu. A signing ceremony will also be held for a Memorandum of Understanding between Japan International Research Centre for Agricultural Sciences and Nepal Agricultural Research Council on developing agricultural technologies to increase agricultural production and improve natural resource management in Nepal.

Masa Iwanaga, president of JIRCAS, will attend the ceremony. Objectives of the visit are to explore investment opportunities in Nepal by Japanese agriculture and food-related companies, make contribution for various cooperative activities and encourage joint research between government agencies of the two countries for enhancing productivity of agricultural products. The visit will also explore the possibility for Nepali workers in Japan in agriculture, food and beverage production and food service industry, under new residency status ‘Specified Skilled Worker,& read the statement.
