Namrita Puri, president of Indian Women Association, handed over two eight-seater electric auto-rickshaws with high-end lithium-ion batteries to Pradip Dhakal, member secretary of Pashupati Area Development Trust, amidst a function organised on premises of Pashupatinath temple today.
Puri said eco-friendly vehicles would be helpful for pilgrims, specially elderly, differently-able persons, women and children visiting the Pashupatinath temple.
Handing over of the e-vehicles was another milestone in strengthening cultural and religious ties between people of India and Nepal and bringing people of the two countries closer, said a press release issued by the Embassy of India to Nepal.
IWA is an organisation of Indian women residing in Nepal, under the patronage of Indian embassy that aims at providing friendly meeting ground for Indian women in Nepal.
It provides a forum for interaction with Nepali women and works to promote goodwill and friendship between Indian and Nepali communities.
IWA organises philanthropic activities to benefit women and children in Nepal.
PADT is mandated to conserve and operate Pashupatinath Temple, which is enlisted as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
