The International Volunteers Day will be celebrated by organising various programmes tomorrow.
IVD is held every year on December 5 to celebrate volunteers& efforts, share their values and promote their services around the world.
This year, IVD is focusing on inclusiveness for future by recognising universal ‘oneness& of humanity.
It is simultaneously celebrating the richness and diversity of cultures and societies around the world.
&The event is being organised by volunteer organisations working throughout Nepal, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Youth Council, VSO, Restless Nepal, Raleigh International, ENGAGE, Metropolitan
Traffic Police Division, Youth Advocacy Forum, UNRCO, UNFPA, UNDP, UN Volunteers and migrant returnees,& said a press release issued by the UN Information Centre in Nepal.
According to the release, the event will be held across seven provinces to promote the importance of volunteering with the focus laid on SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
While awareness booths, volunteer conference and youth events are happening across Nepal, they will also be set-up in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kirtipur.
The booths will provide information on how to become volunteers.
Information will also be shared on ‘Orange the World& campaign, with its 16 days of activism to end gender-based violence.
A collaborative event at Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur will raise awareness on volunteerism and the impact it has, both within the community as well as personally and professionally.
With events happening all over Kathmandu valley, UNV in collaboration with other organisations, will mobilise over 100 volunteers in various locations, including Basantapur, Boudha, Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
&The event aims to provide opportunities for people, particularly those often excluded, to concretely impact their own lives and play a constructive role in their communities by volunteering their time and skills,& read the release.
