Kathmandu, February 27
Co-chair of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal today downplayed simmering differences within the party, saying that differences within a party over some issues were natural and they would not create a rift in the party.
Dahal clarification came a day after media reported that there were differences between him and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli over the issue of nominating party Vicechair Bamdev Gautam as National Assembly member.
Although the NCP Secretariat had recommended the government to nominate Gautam as a member of the Upper House yesterday, the PM held meeting with party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal in the evening to express his displeasure about the decision.
Addressing a training programme organised for Bagmati Province cadres, Dahal said NCP, which was built on the struggle and sacrifice of countless cadres would not suffer split.
Many people think that there should be no differences of opinions within the party and I also think the same way, but such differences are all but natural, he said.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Co-chair of the NCP, did not say anything about differences within the party.
