The Association of International NGOs in Nepal, in coordination with the Ministry of Women, Kid and Senior Citizen and in collaboration with Social Well-being Council, today handed over medical assistance plan wholesale to the Ministry of Health and Population to combat the ongoing COV- ID-19 pandemic. The assistance worth Rs 45.3 million belongs to a joint procurement initiative led by AIN which has the participation of 16 organisations. Minister of MoWCSC Parbat Gurung, accompanied by Officiating Member Secretary of SWC Shiva Kumar Basnet and AIN Chair Achyut Kumar Luitel, turned over the assistance to Minister of Health and Population Bhanubhakta Dhakal. Previously last month, AIN had actually contacted its members to add to the joint procurement effort.

In reaction, 15 INGOs, specifically ActionAid, ADRA Nepal, CARE Nepal, FAIRMED, Great Neighbours International Nepal, INF Nepal, Ipas Nepal, Lutheran World Federation, Mountain- Kid, One World Health, Oxfam, Strategy International, Practical Action, UMN, WaterAid, together with an NGO Nyaya Health Nepal, offered monetary contributions. The medical support bundle consists of individual protective equipment sets, safe shipment packages, infrared thermometers, water and airproof aprons, surgical sterilized worlds and energy gloves, KN95 masks and surgical masks; surgical safety glasses and sanitisation and disinfectant products for median employees in the frontline in the battle against COVID-19. Apart from this joint support to the MoHP, the most recent AIN survey suggests that 65 AIN members out of 129 under the umbrella are actively participated in COVID-19 readiness and response.

Up until now, a minimum of 2 billion rupees have been directed to avoid, include and combat COV- ID-19 along with to support income and build economic strength, said a news release issued by AIN. Minister Gurung stated, & The ministry wishes to thank AIN for the ongoing collective effort and prompt circulation of relief in order to support the COVID-19 reaction.

I request all organisations to collaborate with the ministry for supplying these products across districts and provinces to avoid duplication and overstocking.
