Ruling coalition intensifies discussion for forging electoral alliance
As a part of such attempts, a meeting of coalition partners was held at Nepali Congress's Rupandehi District Party Office today, when leaders of coalition partners - CPN-Maoist Centre, Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal, CPN-Unified Socialist, and Rastriya Janamorcha, along with Nepali Congress - discussed the way they could contest the election as a unified front.
"The meeting has decided that we should form a mechanism under the leadership of NC in all 16 local levels and their wards and contest the election as an alliance by fielding common candidates," NC Rupendehi President Ramkrishna Khan said.Further, NC has informed that they will devise new modality for the distribution of seats on the basis of a number of criteria, including the real votes secured by the coalition constituents and their candidates in the previous election, and the popularity and contribution of candidates in their respective electoral constituency.NC central member and former minister Abdul Rajjak, CPN-US central member Balkrishna Chapagain, CPN-MC central member Maksud Ali, Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal central member Devendra Pande Sagar, and Rastriya Janamorcha district Chair Bandre Alam were present at the discussion held under NC district President Khan.Meanwhile, the coalition parties have declared they will fight in the upcoming elections by forming an alliance in Siddharthanagar Municipality.
