Kolhabi town committee Secretary Rabindra Chaudhary, along with members Shobalal Chaudhary, Rajeshwor Thapa, Yagendraraj Adhikari, Rampukar Chaudhary and Som Bahadur KC and others have resigned.
They have accused leaders of unilaterally distributing election tickets to their relatives and close supporters without consulting others.
"Election tickets have been distributed to the relatives and close supporters of some leaders, bypassing long and committed party leaders and cadres, which is why we had to resign en masse," said Secretary Chaudhary, expressing dissatisfaction with the high-handedness of minister Umakanta Chaudhary."We were holding a meeting to recommend our candidates, when the minister called us and said the meeting and any recommendation it would make was useless," he said.Another NC leader Radha Kumari Chaudhary also expressed her frustration on social media, accusing minister Chaudhary of riding roughshod over the standard process of distributing election tickets.
She accused the minister of only favouring his supporters and relatives.A version of this article appears in the print on April 27, 2022, of The Himalayan Times.
