KATHMANDU, APRIL 30The Election Commission has stated that 5,251 queries were made with the poll panel seeking to know about election laws - whether or not those who have returned from foreign employment could register their names in the voter list, among others.

According to an election bulletin issued by the EC, every day almost 300 people call the EC call centre seeking information regarding various aspects of elections.
Most of the queries are related to voter list and voter identity cards.Some callers sought to know whether they will be able to vote in the absence of a voter identity card and whether other identity cards would be enough for them to vote on May 13.
Some callers even asked the polls panel employees whether or not government employees, teachers and journalists can campaign for political parties carrying the flags of political parties.Anybody who wants to call the EC to know about various aspects of the election can call on its toll-free number 1102.
EC call centre can entertain 15 calls at once.Spokesperson for the EC Shaligram Sharma Paudel has said the EC has sought clarification from 15 individuals or political parties for violating election code of conduct and the polls panel had received responses from those individuals and parties.He said the EC would now take a call on those alleged poll code violations.A version of this article appears in the print on May 01, 2022, of The Himalayan Times.
