KATHMANDU, MAY 11An aircraft of Shree Airlines made a safe emergency landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) today after one of its engines failed.

TIA Spokesperson Tek Nath Sitaula informed that a Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 aircraft of Shree Airlines that was scheduled to fly from here to Dhangadi aborted the flight and made an emergency landing at theTIA when one of its engines failed.
"The aircraft took off from the TIA at 11:54am, but then one of its engines failed after flying 25 nautical miles,"Sitaula told The Himalayan Times, adding, "Thus, the plane was diverted back to Kathmandu and landed safely at 12:08pm."According to Spokesperson for Shree Airlines Anil Manandhar, there were 77 adults, three children, three infants and four crew members on board the plane.He further said that the technicians from the airline company and Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal were inspecting the grounded airliner to carry out necessary maintenance of the left engine, which had failed.While the airline staff were trying to make arrangements to transfer passengers to another flight to Dhangadi, Manandhar informed, "We are having some trouble because of the weather."A version of this article appears in the print on May 12, 2022, of The Himalayan Times.
