Dispute between mayor, deputy mayor affects chemical fertiliser distribution in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT, DECEMBER 18A dispute between the mayor and deputy mayor of Brindaban Municipality has hit farmers hard in Rautahat. Subsidised solar irrigation pumps: Not benefitting needy farmers Knit from the stars and nature Deputy Mayor Sangita Kumari Ram recently wrote to Agriculture Materials Company asking not to distribute chemical fertiliser that has come for farmers. Farmers are sowing late variety of wheat and irrigating early species of wheat in the municipality.

They are in great need of urea and Di-ammonium Phosphate for wheat crop at the moment.There is acute shortage of urea and Di-ammonium Phosphate in the market.Following the deputy mayor's letter not to distribute fertilisers, locals have been agitated against her.Due to shortage, farmers are forced to purchase chemical fertilisers brought from India at double price.

The deputy mayor's action has adversely affected farmers.The dispute between Mayor Binod Prasad Kurmi and Deputy Mayor Ram has been going on for a long time.

She has been threatening not to conduct any programme in the municipality saying that she has majority in the executive.Deputy Mayor Ram has accused the mayor and Chief Administrative Officer Khim Bahadur Bhujel of bypassing her from all kinds of work at the municipality.She said that she was forced to write the letter as she was kept in the dark about the decision regarding fertilisers.Both Mayor Kumari and deputy mayor were elected from CPN (Unified Socialist).But, lack of understanding between them has hit service seekers and farmers.The party has not shown any interest in solving the dispute between the two representatives.A version of this article appears in the print on December 19, 2022, of The Himalayan Times. .
