KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 3Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has underscored the need to ensure the welfare and safety of Nepali workers in Malaysia. Labour minister seeks fair treatment of Nepali workers in Malaysia The anger conundrum: Its crux, essence and physiology Prime Minister Dahal discussed the issues of welfare and safety of Nepali workers in a meeting with MalaysianHome Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasusan Ismali at Singha Durbar today. "On behalf of the government, I would like to thank the Malaysian government for the environment it is providing to the Nepali workers,"Dahal said, adding, "If there is any issues related to workers' welfare and safety, we believe that the Malaysian government will address them legal and institutional reforms."During the meeting Prime Minister Dahal thanked the Malaysian government for increasing the minimum wage of workers from 1,200 ringgit to 1,500 ringgit.

In addition to this, the prime minister expressed his commitment to strictly implement the free visa and free ticket rule.

He also requested the Malaysian government to increase quota of Nepali workers in Malaysia In the recent decades, Malaysia has become a major labour destination for Nepali workers.Around 300,000 Nepalis are working in Malaysia.
