Polonnaruwa Poson perahera under President's patronage

The historic Poson Maha Perahera of Polonnaruwa started at the Polonnaruwa Vatadageya Monday (17), under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

According to the historic traditions, the perahera was commenced after the President placed the Perahera Karanduwa (golden casket) containing the sacred relics on the royal elephant.
