President Maithripala Sirisena arrived at the Narita International Airport, Tokyo yesterday to attend the Enthronement ceremony of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito.
The President was received by Sri Lankan Ambassador to Tokyo Prof.
Ganganath Dissanayake, Embassy officials and a special Japanese delegation.
President Sirisena will join several world leaders for the ceremony to be held at the State Hall of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
President Sirisena arrived in Japan to attend the enthronement ceremony of the new Japanese Emperor Naruhitho on the invitation of the Government of Japan.
The enthronement ceremony will be held at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Japan today (October 22) attended by a large number of world leaders.
President Sirisena will also participate in a banquet hosted by the new Emperor for world leaders,a press release by the Presidents Media Unit said.
During his visit President Sirisena is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and have discussions with him.
Former Japanese Emperor Akihito abdicated in May this year after 30 years of reign.
