President attends Emperor’s enthronement ceremony

President Maithripala Sirisena and First Lady Jayanthi Sirisena attended the ceremonies of enthronement of Japanese Emperor Naruhito from October 22 to 23 in Tokyo.

Emperor Naruhito is the 126th Emperor in Japanese history.

The ceremonies were held at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo which was attended by 180 world leaders.

The enthronement ceremony was held on the afternoon of 22 October followed by the State Banquet by the Emperor and Empress Masako at Imperial Palace.
