Market Now: Nifty IT index up with mild gains; TCS jumps over 2%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index was trading 0.32 per cent up at 13,502 around 01:50 pm on Monday, with Mindtree (up 2.22 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services (up 2.10 per cent) as top gainers.

Shares of Tata Elxsi (up 1.25 per cent), HCL Technologies (up 0.17 per cent) and Infosys (up 0.11 per cent) were also in the green.

However, shares of KPIT Technologies (down 2.11 per cent), Tech Mahindra (down 1.72 per cent) and Wipro (down 1.26 per cent) were suffering significant losses.Oracle Financial Services Software (down 0.57 per cent) and Infibeam Incorporation (down 0.30 per cent) were also in the red.

Markets were in the negative terrain on selling in private bank, financial, auto and pharma counters.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 61 points at 10,535, while the BSE Sensex was 146 points down at 34,702.Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.

UPL, Dr.

Reddy's Laboratories, Indiabulls Housing Finance and Vedanta were the top losers in the Nifty index.State Bank of India, Bharti Infratel and BPCL were leading the pack of Nifty gainers.
