Share market update: Telecom shares mixed; Tejas Networks surges 10%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading on a mixed note in Thursday's afternoon session. Shares of Tejas Networks (up 9.99 per cent) , GTL (up 5.51 per cent) , Aksh Optifibre (up 4.99 per cent) and Reliance Communications (up 3.80 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

Vindhya Telelinks (down 2.85 per cent) , Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (down 1.31 per cent) , Bharti Infratel (down 1.18 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 0.86 per cent) were trading lower.

The S-P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.68 per cent down at 930.15 around 11:45 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 1.35 points at 11,034.35 while the BSE Sensex was up 19.17 points at 37,289.99.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Future Retail, YES Bank, Tata Motors, JSPL, SAIL, NCC, Bank of Baroda, Ashok Leyland and NBCC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
