Stock market update: Smallcaps in line with Sensex; Jubilant Industries surges up to 20%

NEW DELHI: The smallcap index was in sync with benchmark Sensex during Wednesday's trade. Around 12:25 pm, the BSE Smallcap index was 0.29 per cnet up at 17,114, while the BSE Sensex was also up by 0.29 per cent at 35,796.

The Nifty50 was 0.22 per cent up at 10,867. Shares of Jubilant Industries (up 19.97 per cent) and Adlabs Entertainment (up 19.95 per cent) surged up to 20 per cent in the smallcap index. Gujarat Borosil (up 9.62 per cent), Lovable Lingerie (up 9.62 per cent) and SMS Pharmaceuticals (up 9.29 per cent) were also among the top gainers in the index. On the contrary, Usha Martin (down 8 per cent), Arrow Greentech (down 5 per cent), Ricoh India (down 4.99 per cent), McNally Bharat Engineering Company (down 4.90 per cent) and Gitanjali Gems (down 4.89 per cent) were among the top losers in the index around the same time.

Equity markets were in the green as investors' optimism level was lifted by firm IIP data.

IT, pharma, auto and bank stocks were catching buyers' attention. Dr Reddy's Labs, Tata Consultancy Services, Axis Bank and Sun Pharma were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.
