Stock Market

NEW DELHI: Remaining immune to the positive mood of broader markets, shares of Alok Industries (down 9.46 per cent), Bil Energy Systems (down 6.67 per cent) and Cinevista (down 6.02 per cent) cracked up to 9 per cent on NSE during the early trade on Tuesday. Stocks such as Nu Tek India (down 5.56 per cent), Weizmann (down 5 per cent), Hindustan Dorr-Oliver (down 5 per cent), Sri Havisha Hospitality and Infrastructure (down 5 per cent) and Vakrangee (down 5 per cent) declined up to 5 per cent on NSE. The equity benchmarks were trading with gains, buoyed by the forecast of a normal monsoon for the year. The Indian Meteorological Department yesterday said the country will receive "normal" monsoon rainfall this year, raising hopes for higher farm output and a boost to the rain-dependent rural economy. Mixed trend at other Asian markets following a positive lead from Wall Street also influenced sentiment. However, selling in heavyweights including Bharti Infratel, Infosys, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank and Wipro cooled off key indices a bit.

The NSE Nifty index was trading 20 points up at 10,549, while the BSE Sensex was up 98 points at 34,404 around 10:35 am (IST). Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.
