Share market update: Metal shares decline; MOIL slips 4%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading in the red in Monday's morning session. Shares of MOIL (down 4.01 per cent), Welspun Corp (down 3.89 per cent), Hindustan Copper (down 3.42 per cent) and Vedanta (down 3.21 per cent) were the top losers in the index. Tata Steel (down 3.14 per cent), NMDC (down 3.11 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 3.03 per cent) and JSW Steel (down 3.01 per cent) too were trading lower.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 2.35 per cent down at 2396.40 around 10:31 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 96.25 points at 11,416.15 while the BSE Sensex was down 326.90 points at 38,495.67.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, SBI, Dish TV India, Bank of Baroda, SAIL and ZEEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
