Share market update: Bank shares down; YES Bank plunges 8%

NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading in the negative zone in Wednesday's morning session. Shares of YES Bank (down 8.54 per cent) , RBL Bank (down 6.86 per cent) , State Bank of India (down 1.08 per cent) and Punjab National Bank (down 1.05 per cent) were the worst performers in the index. Axis Bank (down 0.99 per cent) , Bank of Baroda (down 0.74 per cent) , Federal Bank (down 0.65 per cent) and IDFC First Bank (down 0.53 per cent) too were trading lower.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.05 per cent down at 27,754.25 around 10:02 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 24.95 points at 11,101.45 while the BSE Sensex was down 72.79 points at 37,459.19.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, ZEEL, Aurobindo Pharma, SBI, Ashok Leyland, NALCO and JSPL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
