Stock market update: IT shares slip; Infosys tanks over 13%

NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading with losses in Tuesday's morning session. Shares of Infosys (down 13.15 per cent), Tata Elxsi (down 2.95 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 1.30 per cent) and NIIT Technologies (down 1.28 per cent) were the top losers in the index. Tech Mahindra (down 0.95 per cent), MindTree (down 0.71 per cent) and Infibeam Avenues (down 0.06 per cent) too were trading lower.

The Nifty IT index was trading 3.44 per cent down at 14,880.05 around 10:05 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 15.85 points at 11,646 while the BSE Sensex was down 121.63 points at 39,176.75.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 were trading in the green, while 11 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, BHEL, Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, SAIL, ZEEL, Ashok Leyland, NBCC and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
