Share market update: Metal shares shine; Welspun Corp climbs 3%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading in the positive zone in Thursday's morning session.

Shares of Welspun Corp (up 3.55 per cent), JSW Steel (up 3.18 per cent), Steel Authority of India (up 2.56 per cent), Hindustan Copper (up 2.17 per cent), National Aluminium Company (up 1.91 per cent), APL Apollo Tubes (up 1.67 per cent), Tata Steel (up 1.56 per cent), Hindalco Industries (up 1.4 per cent), Hindustan Zinc (up 0.85 per cent), Jindal Steel - Power (up 0.52 per cent), VEDL (up 0.41 per cent) and MOIL (up 0.16 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 1.05 per cent up at 2796.25 around 10:28 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 143.10 points at 12168.45 , while the BSE Sensex was up 473.98 points at 41291.72.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 were trading in the green, while 6 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, GMR Infra, SBI, SAIL, Tata Motors, NBCC , Bank of Baroda and IDFC First Bank Ltd.

were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
