Share market update: Metal shares decline; Vedanta down 10%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading in the negative zone in Friday's morning session.

Shares of Ratnamani Metals - Tubes (down​ 14.44 per cent)​, APL Apollo Tubes (down​ 13.63 per cent)​, Hindustan Copper (down​ 12.91 per cent)​, Hindalco Industries (down​ 10.73 per cent)​, Vedanta (down​ 10.08 per cent)​, Welspun Corp (down​ 9.97 per cent)​, NMDC Ltd (down​ 9.92 per cent)​, Steel Authority of India (down​ 9.72 per cent)​, Jindal Steel - Power (down​ 9.57 per cent)​, JSW Steel (down​ 8.96 per cent)​, MOIL (down​ 8.79 per cent)​, Coal India (down​ 6.21 per cent)​, National Aluminium Company (down​ 6.11 per cent)​, Tata Steel (down​ 5.91 per cent)​ and Hindustan Zinc (down​ 3.34 per cent)​ were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 8.29 per cent down at 1651.3 around 10:27 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 539.40 points at 9050.75 , while the BSE Sensex was down 1764.51 points at 31013.63.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 1 were trading in the green, while 49 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, GMR Infra, SBI, ICICI Bank, ITC, IDFC First Bank Ltd., Tata Motors, ONGC and HDFC Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
