Share market update: FMCG shares trade lower; Emami slips 8%

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares were trading lower in Friday's morning session.

Shares of United Spirits (up 1.84 per cent) and Marico (up 0.15 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Emami (down 8.58 per cent), Nestle India (down 6.38 per cent), Godrej Industries (down 5.69 per cent), P - G Hygiene (down 4.91 per cent), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS (down 4.7 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (down 3.83 per cent), Dabur India (down 2.8 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (down 2.38 per cent), Britannia Industries (down 1.81 per cent), United Breweries (down 1.7 per cent), ITC (down 1.22 per cent), Colgate Palmolive (India) (down 0.83 per cent) and Jubilant Foodworks (down 0.4 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 2.73 per cent down at 25370.05 around 10:38 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 243 points at 9347.15 , while the BSE Sensex was down 789.61 points at 31988.53.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 were trading in the green, while 43 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI, GMR Infra, Tata Motors, ITC, ICICI Bank, IDFC First Bank Ltd., ONGC and Coal India Ltd were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
