Shares of MVL (up 20.00 per cent), Provogue India (up 15.48 per cent), Shilpa Medicare (up 11.05 per cent), Ujaas Energy (up 10.05 per cent), Shah Alloys (up 9.96 per cent), Hisar Metal Ind (up 9.81 per cent), HOV Services (up 9.76 per cent), Setco Automotive (up 9.55 per cent) and Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri (up 7.85 per cent) were trading over 5 per cent higher on Wednesday. Shalimar Paints (up 7.72 per cent), Supreme Tex (up 7.69 per cent), Nu Tek India (up 7.69 per cent), Karma Energy (up 7.53 per cent) and Damodar Ind (up 7.27 per cent) were among other shares that climbed over 5 per cent on NSE in today’s session. In the Nifty 50 index, stocks such as TCS (up 2.59 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 2.46 per cent), Indiabulls Housing Finance (up 2.23 per cent), Bharti Infratel (up 2.00 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (up 1.46 per cent) were among the top gainers. Shares of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) gained as much as 2.9 per cent to hit a record high of Rs 1,928.7 after it posted better-than-expected results for the quarter ended June 2018. The IT major on Tuesday reported Rs 7,340 crore consolidated net profit for the first quarter of fiscal 2018-19, registering 23.5 per cent annual and 6.3 per cent sequential growth. Among 51 components in the Nifty index, 23 shares were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.
