NEW DELHI: Most FMCG stocks were experiencing strong selling pressure during Tuesday's session.
The Nifty FMCG was trading 1.91 per cent down at 30,222 at 12:06 pm.
Godrej Consumer Products (down 2.72 per cent), ITC (down 2.69 per cent), Godrej Industries (down 1.81 per cent), Marico (down 1.71 per cent) and Colgate-Palmolive (India) (down 1.50 per cent) were among the top losers in the FMCG index.
Shares of Dabur India (down 1.26 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (HUL) (down 1.24 per cent), Jubilant Foodworks (down 1.15 per cent) and Britannia Industries (down 1.03 per cent) also declined significantly.
United Spirits (down 0.68 per cent) and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 0.33 per cent) too were in the red.
However, shares of Tata Global Beverages (up 0.83 per cent), United Breweries (up 0.66 per cent) and Procter Gamble Hygiene Healthcare (up 0.53 per cent) were in the green at that time.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was 89 points down at 37,833, while the NSE Nifty50 index was down 24 points at 11,414.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.
In the Sensex pack, 13 stocks were advancing and 18 were declining.
SBI, MM and Bajaj Finserv were among the top gainers in the Nifty index, while Titan, ITC and Hero MotoCorp were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
